Fair Lawn wins volleyball TOC title
Fair Lawn edged Southern Regional, 25-23, 13-25, 25-22, in the boys volleyball Tournament of Champions final on Thursday at South Brunswick High School.
Southern (39-2), which captured the TOC crown in 2009 and 2010, had defeated the Cutters twice earlier this season, once on April 28 and then again in the Super Six tournament on May 12.
On the biggest stage of the season, however, Fair Lawn rose to the occasion and notched its second straight TOC crown one year after having defeated Southern in two sets.
The Cutters won their third overall NJSIAA title. The other came in 1995.
Chris Colomier recorded 14 service points and junior libero Charles Gigante added eight, while junior setter Andrew Small had 31 assists. Chris Nugent tallied 12 digs, while Luke St. John added 10, and Nick Amos added six blocks.
Mike Gesicki led Southern with seven kills and four blocks.
