Girls basketball TOC seeds announced
Fresh off its third straight Group 2 state title, Shabazz earned the top seed on Sunday night for the NJSIAA Tournament of Champions, which tips off on Tuesday with two first-round games at Pine Belt Arena in Toms River.
Shabazz (30-1), which is seeking its fifth T of C crown and first since 2008, got a bye, along with second-seeded St. Rose (29-1), into Thursday night’s semifinal round, also at Pine Belt Arena. Manasquan (30-2) is the third seed, followed by fourth-seeded Gill St. Bernard’s (27-5), fifth-seeded Jackson (27-5) and sixth-seeded Cedar Creek (26-4).
Play opens on at 6 p.m. on Tuesday with Jackson versus Gill St. Bernard’s with Cedar Creek and Manasquan scheduled to tip off at 8.
Shabazz will face the winner of Jackson-Gill St. Bernard’s on Thursday at 6 with St. Rose playing the survivor of Cedar Creek-Manasquan at 8 o’clock.
The T of C final is scheduled for 6:30 on March 20 at the Izod Center in East Rutherford.
