2012 All-New Jersey softball teams
MSG Varsity's All-New Jersey softball teams
FIRST TEAM
C - Melissa Phelan, Saddle Brook: Phelan hit .514, slugged 13 homers and knocked in 56 runs this season for the Falcons. The Stony Brook-bound catcher belted 38 homers in her four-year career.
1B - Ashley DeYoung, Indian Hills: DeYoung's power numbers were impressive, smacking six home runs, 12 doubles, and driving in 33. Ashley's slugging percentage was a mind-boggling .917.
2B - Carly Piccinich, IHA: The Notre Dame-bound Piccinich hit .549, and posted a .900 slugging percentage. No one gets down the first base line faster, and she was basically untoppable on the basepaths, stealing 21 in as many attempts.
SS - Lexi Knief, Ramsey: The Penn State--bound Knief hit .562 , scored 50 runs, drove in 50 runs, and belted nine homers in the leadoff spot for the Rams.
3B - Michelle Coyle, West Milford: Coyle hit .430 for the Highlanders and fashioned an impressive .990 fielding percentage at the hot corner.
OF - Meredith Bryant, Manasquan: The Rhode Island-bound Bryant led the Shore Conference in hitting with a robust .618 average.
OF - Kiki Baldasarri, Morris Knolls: Baldasarri hit over .400 for the Golden Eagles this year. Baldasarri also stole 24 bases and will take her speed game to Providence next year.
OF - Ally Thomas, Pequannock: One of the best pure hitters in the state. The Lafayette-bound Thomas slugged nine home runs while hitting over .450 for the Panthers. Thomas belted two homers in the Morris County final.
P - Dana Nielsen, Pequannock - Player of the Year: Nielsen struck out 222 in 138 innings, including 19 in the state championship game. She will take her microscopic 0.34 ERA to Bucknell next season.
P- Amanda Fazio, Chatham: Fazio went 21-6 on the season, sporting a 0.63 ERA. She, too, heads to Bucknell next season.
P - Lauren Fischer, Robbinsville: The 20-game winner flashed an impressive 0.83 ERA. Fischer is only a junior; her return makes Robbinsville a big favorite next season.
P - Steph Thomas, IHA: Hard to believe that as just a sophomore Thomas could go 27-0 with 202 strikeouts and a brandish 0.48 ERA.
