The Olsen Files notebook: Day 6

The Olsen Files notebook: Day 6

Day 6

Typical staff meeting, in the senior executive producer’s office. His name is Michael Lardner, but everyone calls him "Lardy" for short.

I took the liberty of opening the “executive” refrigerator in his office. It is about 24 inches tall. Lardy is clearly a powerful man. Inside I saw the failings of a long ago diet --- coagulated salad dressing. Undeterred by this appetizing sight, I grabbed a ginger ale.

Soon Mike Quick, Raz, Tony D and Leandra enter the room. I take a seat by the window. Soon we are talking about what is next for Kevin Olsen.

Lardy starts laying down the ground rules, concerning which shooters will go where and when. He insists that every time we go on an Olsen shoot, project producers Tony or Raz are required to be on location.

Turns out the next shoot will be in a few days, during which Mike Quick will sit down with Kevin and his father for a one-on-one, over at Wayne Hills High School.

Quick will ask questions ranging from college choices, pressures at home to how Kevin handles his day to day. The media scrutiny has been intensifying and Kevin is being approached by an increasing number of media outlets.

This means the interview with Quick is going to be fun to watch because Quick has a 25-plus year relationship with this family.

I’m anticipating some thought-provoking material. They trust Quick, they will open up to him, which is extremely important in this process. I’m as excited as a starting quarterback on the night before a big game.
