Nutley rallies past Passaic Valley
Trailing on points 19-12 after the first six matches, Nutley would run off six straight wins including pins by Jordan Nochimson, Andre Hanlin and Nick Gaeta to capture a 40-19 victory at Passaic Valley.
“It was a huge boost of momentum for us,” said 195-pounder Gaeta of Nochimson’s pin that started the avalanche for Nutley. “He was so dominant and strong on top and it was a great win.”
A Carlos Rosa decision victory made it official in the second to last match at 220 pounds and Andre Hanlin put the exclamation point on the victory with a hard-fought pin fall victory over Patrick Adriani from Passaic Valley in the 285 class.
“I saw a quick angle and took it,” Nochimson said of his pin. “He was a little feisty on bottom, but I was able to do what I needed to do, kept pressure and got him to crack pretty early.”
Nutley's Nick Trombetta scored a technical fall at 120 to move his record to 14-1 on the year.
As a team, Passaic Valley is now 12-1 and will face off against 7-1 West Orange this weekend.
