Don Bosco lacrosse improves to 10-0
Max Allen scored five times and fellow attackman Jack Ray added four tallies of his own as Don Bosco Prep cruised by Ramapo, 15-1, on Tuesday night.
The junior trio of Allen, Ray and Daniel Mazurek was all Bosco would need on the day as Mazurek lost only two face offs all afternoon and Allen and Ray missed on only one shot attempt apiece.
“Great game, a really complete game for us,” said Ray. “I thought we moved the ball extremely well, that has been a key for us in putting this start together, our attack and midfield really playing as one.”
With the win the Ironmen are off the an impressive 10-0 start to the season and it's giving the team high-hopes that this might be the start of something special.
“It’s a great group,” said Allen. “We really play by our motto, all-in, everyone is committed and the result is we are playing at a very high level right now.”
The Green Raiders of Ramapo were just outmatched on the day as after Conor Krup cut the lead to 3-1 on one of the best goals of the year, Bosco would go on to score the next three and by the end of the opening quarter, the game was already a lopsided 6-1 affair.
Mazurek’s dominance in the face-off’s gave Bosco a decided possession advantage that it used to wear down Ramapo and the shooting accuracy of the squad in maroon was spot on all afternoon.
“Every day, we work on our shooting and our finishing every day,” said Allen. “This is definitely a confidence booster for us since Ramapo got us last year, we wanted to come out and play a complete game on their field and that’s exactly what we did."
The loss drops Ramapo to 4-6 on the season and it will have to rebound quick as it faces Kinnelon at 4 p.m. on Thursday. Up next for Bosco, it puts its undefeated season on the line against Mountain Lakes at 4 p.m. on Thursday.
