TITLE CHASE: Summit seeks its seventh group championship and fourth consecutive. Glen Ridge is after its second straight title.
LAST YEAR: Summit was crowned Group 2 champion with a dramatic 7-6 win over Chatham in five overtimes. Glen Ridge won its first NJSIAA title with a 9-8 victory over Mountain Lakes in the Group 1 final.
TRENDS: Summit has won four straight games since suffering its only loss, 10-7, to Ridgewood in the regular-season finale May 16. Glen Ridge also has won four straight since a 9-8 loss to Montgomery to close out the regular season.
STRANGERS: This will be the first meeting between the two schools.
NUMBERS: Summit averages 11.9 gpg. and allows 4.15. Glen Ridge averages 10.9 gpg. and allows 5.6.
Summit: Outscored Delbarton, 5-0, in the second and third periods to pull out a 9-4 victory May 2. Nick Kilkowski paced the offense for the Hilltoppers with five goals and goalie Alex Salazar made eight saves. Summit's zone defense, led by Will Weber and Bill Hadley, did an outstanding job of keeping Delbarton shooters away from the crease.
Glen Ridge: Defeated Mountain Lakes, 10-4, in the semifinals on Saturday to avenge a regular-season loss. The Ridgers showed opportunism and patience in the first half to build a 4-1 lead and played an excellent defensive game behind John Winchell, Eric Prezioso and goalie Shane Doss. Jameson Smith and Nick Spitaletta sank four goals each for Glen Ridge.
