SEEDS: Pingry 1, MKA 2

TITLE CHASE: Pingry seeks its second title, having won in 2006. Montclair Kimberley is after its first crown.

TRENDS: Pingry has won five straight since a 12-4 loss to Somerville in the Somerset County Tournament quarterfinals. Big Blue allowed an average 4.2 goals in the five games. Montclair Kimberley has won three straight since a 14-9 loss to Glen Ridge May 10 and has won nine of the last 10.

LAST MEETING: Pingry won, 11-5, on April 23 behind a two-goal, five-assist outing from Chris Albanese and two goals apiece from Evan Key, Taylor Wright and J.C. Sorrenson. Senior goalie Alex Castle aided the cause with 14 saves. Montclair Kimberley won their 2011 clash, 10-9, in overtime.

LAST YEAR: Pingry lost to Immaculata, 9-8, in the Non-Public B semifinals. Montclair Kimberley met Immaculata in the championship game, its first, and fell, 12-5.

SHINING MOMENT

Pingry's 11-5 win over MKA was pretty significant, as was its 9-4 victory over Westfield May 17 in the annual Toni Bristol Cup. Taylor Wright and Evan Key led that effort with three goals apiece.

MKA posted a 9-8 win over Rutgers Prep May 15 for its second straight Prep B championship. Maurice Walsh scored a season-high three goal and Matt Lane scored on goal and assisted on five.
