On Wednesday, Piscataway standout and record-setter Tevin Shaw accepted a scholarship to Kansas.

Shaw lined up as a running back and as safety and linebacker in Dan Higgins “Apache” role for the Chiefs in 2011 and the 6-foot 190-pounder will present offensive guru Charlie Weiss with a plethora of options.

In his team’s Section 2, Group 4 title victory over Elizabeth Shaw rushed for 305 yards and three scores, the last being a game winner.

He set seven separate records in his final season as a Chief and was a first team All-State selection and Middlesex County Player of the Year.

Shaw ended the joyous day as a Jayhawk after finding out Iowa, the school which he was ready to attend, notified him there were no more scholarships available. The potential state champion in wrestling is recognized as one of the elite two-sport athletes in the tri-state area.

He recorded 1,596 rushing yards and 26 touchdowns this past fall.
