NJSIAA STATE FINAL RESULTS

Group 4

Eastern 2, Hunterdon Central 0

Eastern ended a 25-year state title drought with a 2-0 victory over Hunterdon Central on Saturday afternoon. Senior pitcher Stephanie Vuono struck out seven batters and allowed only one hit and walked none while Gen Gaynor drove home the winning run with a two-out double in the sixth inning which pushed home Madison Tiernan.

Group 3

High Point 1, Kingsway 0

It took 11 innings to produce a champion in Group 3 and in the end High Point outlasted Kingsway 3-1 on Saturday. Allyson Frei struck out 11 batters over those 11 innings, just long enough to alow Jamie Christensen to pick up a two-out, two-strike single to score Carly Satter.

Group 2

Pequannock 3, Robbinsville 0

Dana Nielsen proved why she is one of the most dominant softball players in the state by striking out the side in three of seven innings and allowed just one hit in Pequannock's 3-0 victory over Robbinsville on Saturday.

The senior finished her fantastic career with a 19-strikeout performance and in so doing helped the Panthers avenge a championship loss from a season ago. Eleni Lutas picked up two clutch hits for the champs and drove in two of her team's three runs. Right fielder Ally Thomas rounded out the scoring and a 3-3 day win an RBI double in the fourth.

Group 1

Whippany Park 1, New Egypt 0

There was unfinished business for Whippany Park in its state final game against Whippany Park and it made sure the game was merely a repeat of last season's triumph. The Wildcats put the first and only run of the game on the scoreboard in the top of the seventh inning to give them a 1-0 lead with three outs seperating them from a repeat championship.

Allison Martino was outstanding in defeat for New Egypt with 17 strikeouts and 12 in a row during one stretch. Despite Martino’s dominating effort it was pitcher Jenn Sansilo for the Whippany Park Wildcats who picked up the win while also scoring the game winning run on catcher Brianna Cetrulo's double down the left field line. Cetrulo caught a beautiful game and snagged career hit number 100 on the game-winning RBI.

Private A

Immaculate Heart 3, St. John Vianney 0

Immaculate Heart got a huge hit from sophomore Steph Thomas while sparked its three-run rally in a championship victory over St. John Vianney on Saturday.

Following sister Ally's victory on the same field with her Pequannock squad, the younger Thomas didn't disappoint, pitching a gem and delivering the game winning hit in her team's title game. The super-soph was able to spread six-hits and a walk and showed upperclassmen composure in helping her team to the Private A crown.

Private B

Sacred Heart 3, Lodi Immaculate 1

Senior first baseman Rachel Gavigan went 3-for-4 including the game-winning run on a double steal in the top of the third inning to lift Sacred Heart over Lodi Immaculate 3-1. With her team trailing 1-0 Gavigan drilled a double to deep left to score Samantha Caterina from second and after Lindsey Dwyer followed with another single, Gavigan would score on the steal. Sophomore pitcher tossed a one-hitter for Sacred Heart and the only run scored was an unearned run in bottom of the first inning.
