Villa Walsh opens chapter of Habitat for Humanity
This year Villa Walsh founded a new club, Habitat for Humanity for high school students. Habitat for Humanity is a nonprofit Christian organization of volunteers that work together to build houses for low income families struggling to make ends meet. Villa students started a ‘chapter’ to join the cause.
In Morris County this year, there were two build opportunities at a six-unit apartment building in Summit, NJ. The girls got down and dirty at the construction site. The first build was in November where groups of Villa students worked with volunteers on siding, spackling, and painting for the house. The most recent build was during President’s Day weekend. Students worked on digging a trench for pipes, and various odd jobs to advance the construction.
