NYC boys basketball power rankings (2/21/12)
No. 1 Christ the King (18-6)
Omar Calhoun is the new scoring king at CK and the Royals will try to make it four straight Brooklyn/Queens Diocesan titles. But first they have to get past pesky Bishop Loughlin.

No. 2 Thomas Jefferson (22-6)
Thaddeus Hall had 22 points and Jaquan Lynch added 16 for the Orange Wave in a 73-64 win over No. 8 Xaverian in the Rucker Invitational at Wadleigh on Saturday.
Next: Robeson, PSAL Class AA second round (Feb. 29, 5 p.m.)
No. 3 Cardinal Hayes (20-4)
Fadil Yacoubou could be the X-factor for the Cardinals, who pulled away from hard-working Fordham Prep for a 68-54 win in the Archdiocesan quarterfinals, setting up a showdown at St. Ray’s Tuesday.
Next: @ No. 7 St. Raymond, Archdiocesan semifinals (Tuesday, 6 p.m.)
No. 4 Boys & Girls (20-6)
For a second straight game, the Kangaroos failed to close out a game and fell at St. Raymond, 78-77. That came after a loss to Jefferson in the Brooklyn Boro finals. Still, Boys is a favorite to get to Madison Square Garden.
Next: Gompers, PSAL Class AA second round (Feb. 29, 5 p.m.)
No. 5 Holy Cross (21-4)
Led by a balanced scoring attack, the Knights earned a first-round bye in the Brooklyn/Queens Diocesan tournament and will take on Xaverian in the semifinals.

No. 6 Wings Academy (24-3)
Justin Jenkins and co. will try to beat Bronx rival Eagle Academy for a third time this season, never an easy task. A berth into the PSAL Class AA quarterfinals is at stake.
Next: Eagle Academy, PSAL Class AA second round (Feb. 29, 6:30 p.m.)
No. 7 St. Raymond (16-9)
The Ravens aren’t talking revenge, but a win against Cardinal Hayes would not only make up for a pair of regular season defeats, but also book St. Ray’s ticket into the Archdiocesan final.
Next: No. 3 Cardinal Hayes, Archdiocesan semifinals (Tuesday, 6 p.m.)
No. 8 Xaverian (17-8)
Thanks to the sharpshooting of SMU-bound Brian Bernardi, Xaverian defeated St. Francis Prep, 62-51, to advance to meet Holy Cross in the Brooklyn/Queens Diocesan semifinals.
Next: No. 5 Holy Cross, B/Q Diocesan semifinals @ St. Francis Prep (Wednesday, 6 p.m.)
No. 9 Lincoln (17-8)
The banged up Railsplitters have lost four of their last five games and a matchup with mighty St. Anthony’s (NJ) in Jersey City isn’t exactly the best cure for Lincoln’s woes. The good news, though, is the expected return of sophomore sensation Isaiah Whitehead from a sprained ankle.
Next: @ St. Anthony’s (NJ) (Tuesday, 6 p.m.)
No. 10 South Shore (18-8)
The Vikings finished fourth in the toughest division in the city. Their reward? A first-round matchup with Bronx borough champs JFK in the second round. A quarterfinal showdown with Boys could be on the horizon.

Next: Van Buren, PSAL Class AA second round (Feb. 29, 5 p.m.)
No. 14 Curtis (23-5)
The Warriors beat rival St. Peter’s to win the SIHSL tournament title, but came out flat in a 52-49 loss to All Hallows at the Rucker Invitational at Wadleigh on Saturday.
Next: Campus Magnet, PSAL Class AA second round (Feb. 29, 5 p.m.)
No. T15 Bayside (20-5)
