Rosati's RBI lifts Holy Trinity over Chaminade

When the ball left Anthony Rosati's bat with the bases loaded in the bottom of the sixth inning, the Holy Trinity senior thought it was the go-ahead hit. But Chaminade rightfielder Ryan Walsh made a diving catch of Rosati's hard line drive and doubled the runner off second base to end the inning.
The out made Rosati 2-for-11 in the three-game series even though he had consistently hit the ball hard.
With runners on second and third and one out in the bottom of the eighth, he produced another hard line drive, and this one wasn't caught. Rosati lined a single to center to drive in Tyler Kapela and give host Holy Trinity a 5-4 win over Chaminade Thursday in CHSAA baseball.
"I am seeing the ball really well," Rosati said. "It was definitely frustrating hitting the ball at people. I felt like I was letting my team down, and that's the last thing I want to do. I'm glad I came through."
"They have been pitching him tough," said Holy Trinity coach Bob Malandro, who celebrated his 65th birthday Thursday. "He's seen a lot of breaking balls in the series. He's hit into hard luck. He's our big hitter and he came through with two strikes."
John Parenty (1-for-2 with three walks) gave Holy Trinity (4-1, 2-1) a 4-3 lead with a bases-loaded walk in the fourth. Brian Trabulsi, who hit a two-run homer in the first inning, tied the score at 4 with a single in the sixth for Chaminade (2-3, 1-3).
Kapela, who pitched the final three innings for Holy Trinity, allowed no hits, walked one and struck out four to get the win.
"I tried to hit my spots and get some ground balls," Kapela said. "I happened to get some strikeouts."
Holy Trinity starter Patrick Madigan pitched better than the numbers showed, allowing seven hits and striking out seven in five innings-plus. He went 2-for-4 with a double and home run. Christopher Hardardt helped out by throwing out three runners attempting to steal.
Jonathan Maroutsis kept Chaminade in the game, escaping a bases-loaded, one-out jam in the fourth by getting two strikeouts. He pitched 32/3 scoreless innings with four strikeouts.
A day earlier, Holy Trinity fell in eight innings, 2-1, despite striking out 15 Chaminade batters. "It has to pump these kids up," Malandro said. "We haven't been getting the big hit, and this time we did. It's a big win early in the year. Chaminade is a good team."
