Power rankings: LI/NYC hockey (2/21/12)

1. St. Anthony's (19-0 CHSHL)

The Friars are just one win away from their third straight CHSHL Class A title after downing St. Joseph by the Sea Monday night with a 6-1 Game 1 victory. Chris Wallace notched a hat trick in the winning effort.

2. Smithtown/Hauppauge (23-1)

The Bulls captured their first Suffolk County High School Hockey League championship since 2000-2001 with a two-game sweep over rival Connetquot/Sayville last week. Thomas Dunn was named playoff MVP with five goals and five assists in the postseason, with four of those helpers coming in a 4-3 Game 1 win.

3. Long Beach (19-4-1)

The defending state champions and last year's Suffolk County champs now hold the Nassau Michelino throne with a two-game sweep over rival Syosset. The Marines clinched the title with a dominating 10-1 victory over the Braves, boosted by Tom McGovern's five assists in the the clincher.

4. Connetquot/Sayville (21-3)

The T-Birds fell in two close games to rival Smithtown as they were swept in its second-straight SCHSHL finals. Five different skaters provided the scoring for the combined squad.

5. Syosset (17-6-1)

The Braves were swept by Long Beach in the Nassau Michelino finals by a combined score of 14-3 last week. They'll look to the state championship tournament to bring home some hardware

6. St. Joseph by the Sea (9-9-2)

The Vikings took the game to mighty St. Anthony's for the first 11 minutes Monday, but were victimized by mental mistakes and gave up three goals in the final 3:30 of the first period en route to a 6-1 loss in Game 1 of the CHSHL Class A championship series.

7. East Williston (15-7-2)

The Wildcats forced a deciding Game 3 of the Liberty Division finals with a thrilling 5-4 victory over Oceanside. Goaltender Graham Turk stood strong in net while Justin Breslin netted a pair to keep East Williston's hopes of back-to-back Liberty Division titles alive.

8. Oceanside (15-8-1)

The Sailors fell to East Williston in Game 2 by a close 5-4 decision in what was Oceanside's chance to lock up the title. They'll look to dethrone the defending Liberty Division champs Sunday night in the deciding Game 3.

9. Kings Park/Commack (14-7-1)

The Cougars held on valiantly against a surging Smithtown/Hauppauge team, but eventually fell to the eventual SCHSHL champion, 4-0 in the semifinals. A team with 15 seniors, look for the Cougars to begin rebuilding next season.

10. Monsignor Farrel (6-7-3)

The Lions missed out on the playoffs for the first time ever when they ended the regular season with a 7-0 loss to St. Anthony's. Farrel fell one point short.
