    LONG ISLAND CHAMPIONSHIP

    Saturday, November 12 (at St. Joseph's College)

    (N1) Massapequa 1, (S1) Smithtown East 3

    Delia Phillips had six kills and three digs in the fourth game as the Bulls beat Massapequa, 25-21, 17-25, 25-18, 28-26, to win their first Class AA Long Island championship since the program split into two teams.

     

    FINAL

    Tuesday, November 8 (at SUNY Old Westbury)

    (1) Massapequa 3, (2) Hicksville 0

    Lauren Van Buren had 10 kills, two blocks, three aces and 13 digs and Joanne Josephson had nine kills and six blocks as No 1 Massapequa beat No. 2 Hicksville, 25-15, 25-12, 25-12, in the girls volleyball Nassau Class AA finals at SUNY-Old Westbury. Kristen Marchisotto had 33 assists and Erin Bies added 18 digs. Massapequa (15-0) plays the winner of Lindenhurst vs. Smithtown East in the Long Island Championships at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday at St. Joseph's College in Patchogue.

     

    SEMI-FINALS

    Friday, November 4 (at Long Beach HS)

    (1) Massapequa 3, (4) East Meadow 0

    Lauren Van Buren had 10 kills, 10 digs and nine aces, Kerry Purcell had nine kills and eight digs and Heather Sweeney added seven kills as No. 1 Massapequa (14-0) beat No. 4 East Meadow 25-10, 25-16, 25-12 in the Nassau Class AA semifinals. Massapequa will play No. 2 Hicksville in the finals Tuesday at SUNY-Old Westbury at 6:30 p.m.

    (2) Hicksville 3, (3) Farmingdale 0

    Kaitlyn Garger, Amanda Kasey and Kayla Rosario each had 10 kills to lead No. 2 Hicksville (10-4) over No. 3 Farmingdale, 25-14, 25-17, 25-11, in a Nassau Class AA semifinal. The Comets will face the winner of the Massapequa/East Meadow game at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at SUNY-Old Westbury.

     

    QUARTERFINALS

    Wednesday, November 2 (at higher seed)

    (1) Massapequa 3, (8) MacArthur 0

    Lauren Van Buren had nine kills, Erin Bies had 10 digs, and Kristen Marchisotto had 25 assists to lead No. 1 Massapequa (13-0) to a 25-11, 25-17, 25-22 win over No. 8 MacArthur (12-1) in the quarterfinals of the Nassau Class AA Playoffs. Massapequa will play No. 4 East Meadow in the semifinals on Friday at 6:30 at Long Beach High School.

    (4) East Meadow 3, (5) Baldwin 2

    No. 4 East Meadow (9-6) beat No. 5 Baldwin 25-12, 18-25, 25-18, 22-25, 25-19 in the quarterfinals of the Nassau Class AA playoffs. Becky Syers had 25 assists, 11 kills, eight digs and seven aces, Jennifer Gundrum had 17 kills and five blocks and Taylor Conti added 15 digs. East Meadow will play No. 1 Massapequa in the semifnals at Long Beach High School Friday at 6:30 p.m.

    (2) Hicksville 3, (7) Port Washington 0

    Caitlyn Garger had 16 kills and Caitlin Wynne added 22 digs to lead No. 2 Hicksville (9-4) in a 25-7, 25-12, 25-23 win over No. 7 Port Washington (2-13) in the first round of the Class AA playoffs. Hicksville travels to Long Beach to play No. 3 Farmingdale on Friday at 4:30 p.m.

    (3) Farmingdale 3, (6) Syosset 2

    No. 3 Farmingdale (8-5) came from two sets down to beat No. 6 Syosset (3-10) 17-25, 21-25, 25-17, 25-14, 25-21 in the quarterfinals of the Nassau Class AA playoffs. Julie Teller had 13 kills and four aces, Nicole Kayola had 13 digs, Chrissy Kelly had five aces and Tara Wahl had 15 assists. Farmingdale will play No. 2 Hicksville Friday at Long Beach High School in the semifinals.
