Sayville duo make college choices official
The ACC and Big East will be seeing some Golden Flashes next fall.
Boys soccer star Dakota Edwards officially signed his national letter of intent with Maryland University to play soccer.
Edwards was a defensive force with an offensive touch at Sayville High School, adding five goals and 10 assists to lead the Golden Flashes to the Long Island Class A finals. The future Terrapin was recently named an NSCAA All-American and a NYS Player of the Year.
Field hockey star Olivia Cabral has made her decision to join the Big East official as she signed her letter of intent to Louisville on Wednesday.
Cabral was named to the 2011 Newsday All-Long Island, and named Suffolk County Player of the Year. The senior midfielder amassed nine goals and a Long Island-best 19 assists for the Golden Flashes in 2011.
Her efforts helped lead Sayville to a 19-1 record and resulted in the Golden Flashes first Suffolk County Class B championship since 2006.
Cabral was a member of the USA Field Hockey Futures team and an All-State Selection.
