Long Island Player of the Year

ALLISON MCKENNA, Glenn, Center, Sr.
McKenna was a constant double-double threat for Glenn, averaging 20.3 points and 11.2 rebounds as she led the Knights to their third Long Island Championship. The 6-3 McKenna was a force on defense as well, adding 4.8 blocked shots per game. McKenna’s signature performance came against North Shore in the Long Island Championship Class A game as she had 30 points, 23 rebounds and 10 blocked shots. Also a top volleyball player, she’ll play at Geneseo.

Nassau Player of the Year

ALEX HAMPTON, Baldwin, Guard, Sr.
Hampton averaged 13.5 points, eight assists, six rebounds and five steals to help the Bruins win their third consecutive Nassau Class AA county championship. She scored a career-high 24 points in the Nassau Class AA finals against Massapequa to earn the MVP and scored 20 points in the Long Island Class AA championship against Riverhead. Hampton averaged 20 points in the postseason and will play at Molloy.

JALYN BROWN, Riverhead, Guard, Sr.
Brown helped Riverhead to its best season ever as the Blue Waves reached the state Class AA semifinals and went 23-2. The point guard averaged 16.4 points and 4.4 assists in the regular season and 14.7 in the postseason. She will attend C.W. Post.

BOOGIE BROZOSKI, Long Island Lutheran, Guard, Fr.
One of Long Island’s most dynamic playmakers, Brozoski averaged 14.8 points and eight assists. The point guard had her share of big moments for the Federation Class B finalist Crusaders, the best coming on a game-tying half-court heave to end the third quarter against St. Anthony’s en route to a career-high 28 points in overtime.

MEAGAN DOHERTY, Sachem East, Guard, Sr.
Doherty averaged 20.3 points, 6.3 rebounds, 3.8 steals and 3.7 assists. Doherty, a five-year varsity player, hit 51 three-pointers. She finished her career with 1,327 career points to place her third in program history behind Nicole Kaczmarski and her sister, Kristen Doherty.

BROOKE GERSTMAN, Lynbrook, Guard, Sr.
Gerstman averaged 22.3 points, 6.5 rebounds and 5.3 assists as she led Lynbrook to the Nassau Class A semifinals. Her unparalleled situational awareness made her a threat even without the ball in her hands. Gerstman finishes her career as Lynbrook’s all-time leading scorer with 1,360 points.

SYMONE KELLY, St. Anthony’s, Center, Sr.
Kelly helped lead the Friars to their second consecutive CHSAA championship. She averaged 11.6 points, 12.2 rebounds, 2.1 steals, 1.8 blocks and 1.6 assists. The Siena-bound Kelly had 20 points and 11 rebounds in a 51-48 win over St. John the Baptist in the CHSAA finals.

AMANDA JOHANSEN, North Shore, Guard, Sr.
The focal point of North Shore’s system averaged 19.1 points, 12.1 rebounds, 6.5 assists, 3.4 steals and 1.7 blocked shots as she led the Vikings to their first Nassau Class A county title. A three-sport star headed to USC for lacrosse, Johansen finished her career as North Shore’s all-time leading scorer with 1,124 points. She is also first in rebounds (847), assists (401), steals (261) and blocked shots (142).

REBECCA MUSGROVE, St. Anthony’s, Guard, Jr.
Musgrove did it all for the Friars. She has excellent court vision and often ignited the offense. She played through injuries and averaged 11.8 points, 5.6 rebounds, 4.1 assists and 3.2 steals.

KATIE POPPE, Holy Trinity, Guard, Sr.
A prolific outside shooter, Poppe averaged 18.5 points, seven rebounds and four assists. When others left during a transitional season, Poppe stayed and carried the Titans to a second place finish in the CHSAA. She’ll play at Boston University.
