    PLAYER OF THE YEAR
    Hannah Wear, John Jay-Cross River

The Providence-bound senior midfielder scored a team-high 22 goals to power the Indians' offense this season. Wear, a four-year starter, has been a rock for the John Jay-CR program, finishing her career second all-time in scoring with 40 goals and nine assists. The Indians compiled an overall record of 50-15-9 with her in the lineup. Wear, who earned all-section honors, was a terror in the air, scoring a quarter of her goals on headers. She was also a master on set pieces, setting up teammates and scoring with booming free kicks. Coach Paul Smith described Wear as a tenacious player who is always at the center of things, possessing the ability to shut down an opposing central midfielder and score on the other end.

    COACH OF THE YEAR
    Jennifer Czumak, Washingtonville

In her first year as head coach of the Wizards, Czumak led her team to a perfect 20-0 record and a Class AA state title. Washingtonville defeated Section 5's Webster Thomas, 1-0, in triple-overtime of the state championship game. Czumak — the former North Rockland coach — did it with a young team that is poised to be dangerous for years to come.

    All-Hudson Valley/Westchester: First team

Andrea Pereira, Monroe-Woodbury, Sr., FW: Siena College-bound senior was one of Section 9's premier finishers and led the Crusaders in scoring. Pereira was the biggest reason Monroe-Woodbury nearly upset eventual state champ Washingtonville in the Class AA sectional final.

Caroline Staudle, Cornwall, Sr., FW: One of the most prolific scorers in the area, Staudle’s 32 goals and eight assists helped the Dragons reach the Class A state semifinals. Staudle racked up an impressive 59 goals and 20 assists over her final two varsity seasons

Gladys Loyas, S.S. Seward, Sr., FW: St. Bonaventure-bound speedster led Section 9 in scoring with an eye-popping 46 goals. She also led the Spartans to an appearance in the NYS Class D quarterfinals.

Brenna Brown, North Salem, Sr., MF: Brown’s 25 goals and six assists helped the Tigers make a run to the Section 1 Class B semifinals. The speedy center midfielder finished her decorated career with 70 goals and will play at Fairfield University next year.

Hannah Wear, John Jay-Cross River, Sr., MF: * Player of the Year *

Jazmin Acosta, Port Chester, Jr., MF: The playmaking junior’s scoring ability was only surpassed by her passing as she led the team with 19 goals and 23 assists. Acosta earned all-section honors and was named MVP of Conference 3-League A.

Marissa Scognamiglio, Pearl River, Sr., MF: The All-Section midfielder was the unquestioned leader of the Section 1 Class A champions. She displayed tremendous vision, evidenced by her team-high 16 assists, and also had a scoring touch with eight goals. Scognamiglio earned all-section honors and was named co-player of the year in Conference IV-League B.

Alana O’Neill, Washingtonville, Jr., MF: When the Wizards needed a penalty kick with the state championship on the line, they looked to O’Neill and she brought home the title. The clutch performer tallied five of her 12 goals in the postseason.

Meredith Donovan, Bronxville, Jr., D: The junior center back was a defensive stalwart, leading the Broncos to an appearance in the NYS Class B regional final. Donovan was named the Conference II-League D MVP and earned all-section honors.

Sarah Frohman, Scarsdale, Sr., D: Frohman was named her league’s MVP and helped the Raiders reach the Section 1 Class AA quarterfinals.
