Big second half leads Maria Regina to victory
Maria Regina outlasted a tough Notre Dame Academy team from Staten Island on Saturday afternoon in Hartsdale, 53-39. Notre Dame led by one at the half, but Maria Regina came out of the locker room in the second half as a different team. Senior Jennifer Forlini led the charge for the Tigers in the second half.
"I needed to get the girls pumped, we had a little pow-wow and it fired us up," Forlini said. "It all comes down to heart, it's my last year, we want to get it done."
Maria Regina shut Notre Dame down completely in the second half, mostly due to sophomore center Damonae Hargrove who shut down Notre Dame's imposing front line.
The Tigers will face another Staten Island foe to start the week on Monday with St. Joseph-by-the-Sea.
