SECTION 1 CLASS B GIRLS SEMIFINALS
Irvington 56, Kennedy Catholic 35
Irvington continued on its quest for a third straight Section 1 and state championship with a 56-35 victory over No. 4 Kennedy. Irvington went on a 14-0 run to end the first half en route to the victory. The "Big 3" performed as expected led by Lexi Martin's 17 points, 10 rebounds, and four steals. Brittni Lai finished with 15 points and six assists. Senior forward Marley Giddins added 11 points and 13 rebounds. Alyssa DiCampli also finished in double digits with 10 points.
Kennedy was led by Sara Dowd's 12 points.
No. 1 Irvington will face No. 2 Blind Brook in the Class B championship on Saturday night at 7 p.m.
Blind Brook 69, Dobbs Ferry 66
Ali Silfen scored six of her team's 10 points in overtime including a spinning layup and a banked jumper from the baseline to power Blind Brook. She finished with 25 points and 12 rebounds. Point guard Lea Saliba finished with 21 points, 8 rebounds, and 6 steals for the Lady Trojans before fouling out in overtime. She was one of four Blind Brook players to foul out in addition to three Dobbs Ferry players in the foul-plagued nail biter.
Blind Brook led by 11 points in the fourth quarter mostly due to a 58-37 rebounding edge before Dobbs Ferry made a valiant comeback in the fourth quarter led by sophomore Alyssa Chipelo who poured in 26 points.
Jacqueline Lavitt added 10 points and 15 rebounds for Blind Brook in the victory. The Lady Trojans will face the winner of Irvington-Kennedy Catholic in the Class B championship on Saturday at 7 p.m.
SECTION 1 CLASS C GIRLS SEMIFINALS
Alexander Hamilton 57, Haldane 40
An intense Hamilton defense forced 44 Haldane turnovers en route to a 57-40 victory in the Class C semifinals. Maia Hood put in a monstrous effort with 20 points, 19 rebounds, and 5 assists for Hamilton. Guard Ayanna Behagen poured in 20 points and added 11 steals.
Alexander Hamilton lost to Haldane in the Class C championship a year ago and in the playoffs the two years prior.
Hamilton will face Keio Academy on Saturday at 12 p.m. in the Class C championship game. Hamilton beat Keio twice this season, 51-11 and 56-16.
Keio 31, Solomon Schecter 16
At the Westchester County Center, No. 3 Keio Academy beat No. 2 Solomon Schecter for the third time this season behind 13 points, 8 rebounds, 6 assists, and 4 steals from Sae Toyomura to advance to the Class C championship game. The Unicorns jumped out to a 10-2 lead after the first quarter and forced Schecter into tough shots all game. Keio used a methodical time-wasting offensive set to slow the pace down and control the game. Misao Ishii added 8 points for Keio in the victory. Hannelora Everett led Schecter with 6 points in the loss.
Keio will face the winner of No. 4 Haldane and No. 1 Alexander Hamilton on Saturday at noon back at the County Center
