At Hofstra University, Section 1's Bronxville (20-2) was stymied by Section 11's Shoreham-Wading River (17-3). The Wildcats' zone defense deflated the high-scoring Broncos, who came into the day averaging 12.81 goals a game.
Brown University-bound Brewster Warble scored both of Bronxville's goals, registering his first with 2:57 left in the fourth quarter to avoid a shutout. He added his second with 15 seconds left in regulation.
Bronxville junior goalie Eric Pass turned in a stellar effort with 12 saves, including five or six that were right on the doorstep. Senior faceoff specialist Andrew Walsh went 10 of 17 at the dot.
For Shoreham-Wading River, Notre Dame-bound middie Trevor Brosco (3G, 2A) and James Higgins (3G, 1A) led the way. Maryland-bound attackman Tim Rotanz (1G, 2A), Dylan Gorman (2G), Ryan Bray (2G) and Troy Miller (1A) rounded out the offensive production.
It marked the second straight year Bronxville fell in the NYS Class C semifinal round.
The Wildcats will look to win their third state title in program history on Saturday against Section 5's Pen Yan at Middletown High School's Faller Field at 11 a.m.

At Hofstra University, undefeated Garden City from Section 8 overpowered Section 1's Yorktown to advance to Saturday's state final. The Trojans will take on Section 5's Irondequoit at Middletown's Faller Field at 4 p.m.
Garden City (21-0) — which entered the game as No. 1 team in both the MSG Varsity Tri-State Lacrosse Top 20 and the Under Armour/Inside Lacrosse Top 25 — outscored the Huskers 4-0 inside the final two minutes and 54 seconds of the first half to grab a comfortable 10-3 halftime lead. The Huskers would never recover from the four-goal barrage.
Harvard-bound senior attackman Devin Dwyer paced Garden City with one goal and seven assists. Justin Guterding (4G), Patric Berkery (3G), Mark Ellis (2G), Cody George (2G), Liam Kennedy (1G, 1A), Ed Blatz (1G) and Ryan Norton (1A) rounded out the offensive production for the Trojans.
For Yorktown (16-5), Marquette-bound senior attackman Conor Gately led the way with a pair of goals. Nick Mariano and Connor Vercruysse added one goal apiece. Starting goalie Austin Graham made five saves. Backup Zach Reilly stopped one shot.
Garden City dominated the hustle stats, winning the ground ball battle 28-19. Freshman middie James Sullivan helped the Trojans maintain possession, winning 13 of 16 faceoffs. As a team, Garden City went 15 for 21 at the dot.
Yorktown and Garden City have met in the state playoffs nine times since 1985. The Trojans now hold a 5-4 advantage in the all-time series. The Huskers, who have won six state titles, haven't gotten past Long Island in the state semifinals since they last won it all in 2003.
Gately finished an impressive year with a team-high 116 points (37G, 79A), becoming the first Yorktown player since Mike McCall (Class of '01) to crack 100 points in a season. Mariano led the team in goals with 49.
