Spearheaded by standout senior keeper Steven Reiche, Lakeland shutout its fourth straight opponent. Dating back to a 1-0 sectional semifinal win over Pelham on November 3, the Hornets kept the opposition off the board for a span of 380 minutes. While Maine-Endwell advanced in the tournament, the game was ruled a tie due to state rules, which meant Lakeland was named a co-regional champ. The Hornets came up short of their ultimate goal, but they still had a record-setting season by making it further than any other team in program history.

The Royals (17-1-1) will play the winner of Tully (Section 3) and Lansing (Section 4) in the state semis on Saturday, November 19 at Middletown High School. In a game that proved just how cruel playoff soccer can be, Hamilton (13-6-1) utterly dominated time of possession and had the lion's share of scoring chances. But Port Jeff made the best of its limited opportunities. One of them came in just the eighth minute of regulation, as Cihad Akkaya ripped a shot on a break to give the Royals an early 1-0 lead. Hamilton's Edisson Moscoso scored the equalizer with 17 minutes left in the second half, ripping a highlight-worthy goal from 25 yards out that dipped below the bar.
