Things have gone according to plan for the Pride as they defeated Harrison, Newburgh and Horace Greeley rather easily. However, Ossining will play its toughest competition yet as they face the No. 3 (Mater Dei, CA), and possibly the No. 1 (St. Mary’s, AZ) teams in the nation this week at the Nike Tournament of Champions in Arizona.

This is more about Irvington moving up than John Jay-East-Fishkill moving down. Irvington defeated Mount Vernon on Friday with West Virginia-bound Lubirdia Gordon back from injury. If not for Saniya Chong, the Bulldogs would be the best team in the section.

JJEF started the season off well, notching three wins and taking home a championship in the Michael DePaoli tournament at Somers. However, the month of January holds a tough schedule for the Patriots, so we’ll see if they can remain undefeated.

Lourdes suffered its first defeat of the season against Kennedy on Monday in a great game. Kennedy has two of the best bigs around and will be in our Top 10 at some point this season, so the loss doesn’t drop Lourdes too far.

The Admirals remained undefeated, squeaking out an overtime win against a tough John Jay-Cross River squad on Monday. Arlington has a tough few weeks ahead but will have a chance to move even higher in our rankings.

So far, so good for the defending Class A champs. They took care of Scarsdale on the road on Wednesday and will face Clarkstown North and Oneonta this week. The Pirates then start a tough month of league games.

Ursuline has done no wrong; they just haven’t played since suffering a season-opening loss to Irvington. With Beth Wooters at the helm, this team will be at full strength by the time the bulk of its schedule comes around.
