|---|---|---|---|---|---|

1 | Suffern | 8-2 | 1 |
Is Suffern returning to the pack? It would certainly appear that way. The Mounties have lost two games against Section 1 opponents — White Plains and Mamaroneck — this season. It marks the first time this has happened since the 2008-09 season. Still, coach Rob Schelling's three-time defending Section 1 D1 champs get the benefit of the doubt here. When everything is on the line, the Mounties have always proven to be a cut above. |
2 | Mamaroneck | 8-6 | 4 |
Senior-laden Tigers are 5-2 over their past seven games and appear to be peaking at the right time. There isn't a team in Section 1 with more speed and size than Mamaroneck. |
3 | John Jay-CR | 11-0-1 | 2 |
Indians were forced to settle for a 4-4 tie against an underrated Somers/North Salem team. Back-to-back games against Greeley (Jan. 19) and Rye (Jan. 26) loom large. |
4 | Pelham | 5-3-2 | 8 |
Coach Ed Witz's battle-tested squad rides a three-game winning streak into tonight's tilt against Suffern. The Mounties dealt Pelham a 6-1 loss back on Dec. 21. Expect the score to be a lot closer in the friendly confines of the Ice Hutch. |
5 | Greeley | 11-0-2 | 5 |
If the Quakers can get past rival John Jay-CR on Saturday, they will have the inside track toward the top seed in the upcoming Section 1 D2 playoffs. |
6 | Clarkstown | 6-5 | 10 |
Clarkstown is coming off a statement-making 5-2 win over Rye last Friday. The Mike Gillespie-led squad will look to carry the momentum into Saturday's clash against Scarsdale. |
7 | Rye | 8-2-1 | 3 |
Defense has been an issue of late for the Garnets, who have relinquished 14 goals over their past five games. They gave up just seven goals en route to a 6-0 start to the season. |
8 | White Plains | 7-4-1 | 7 |
If there's a silver lining in the Tigers' four losses, it's that all of them have been nail-biters. White Plains has lost two one-goal games and two two-goal games. |
9 | Scarsdale | 6-2-1 | 6 |
Life without playmaking sophomore forward Devon Schell hasn't been easy for the Raiders, who are coming off back-to-back losses to John Jay-CR and Mamaroneck. |
10 | Somers/North Salem | 10-3-2 | NR |
Sabers are one of Section 1's hottest teams, going 6-0-1 over their last seven games. And the tie came against undefeated John Jay-CR. |
