Power rankings: HV/WE ice hockey (2/12)
| RANK | TEAM | REC | LW | COMMENTS | |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
1 | Suffern | 15-3 | 1 |
Last Thursday's loss to New Jersey powerhouse Don Bosco was just what the doctor ordered. There's nothing like a little humbling heading into a do-or-die postseason tourney. |
2 | Pelham | 10-4-2 | 2 |
Snowstorm Nemo derailed the Pelicans' trip upstate to play Massena and Salmon River. They get back on the ice tonight against rival Rye. Should be another classic. |
3 | Mamaroneck | 12-7 | 3 |
Tigers stormed past ETB this past Saturday and close out the regular season against Sleepy/Irvington/Dobbs this evening. Looking ahead to the playoffs, anything less than a rubber match with Suffern in the D1 final will be a letdown. |
4 | Rye Country Day School | 11-9-2 | 4 |
Wildcats are coming off 5-2 win over Fieldston on Monday night. They have two remaining games left against Ryetown/Harrison (Feb. 12) and St. Thomas Moore (Feb. 14) before the FAA tournament gets underway on Feb. 21. |
5 | John Jay-CR | 17-1-1 | 5 |
Indians have won four straight since suffering their lone loss of the season to Rye back on Jan. 26. The latest victory came on Sunday against Hen Hud, which saw its eight-game winning streak snapped in a 4-1 defeat. |
6 | Rye | 14-4-1 | 6 |
Garnets were upset by Ryetown/Harrison last Thursday in a game that ended close to midnight. The Garnets rebounded with a 4-0 win over Byram Hills last night and close out the regular season against Pelham tonight. A win against the Pelicans would give them plenty of momentum heading into the postseason. |
7 | New Rochelle | 11-6-2 | NR |
Huguenots have won three straight — including a convincing 7-2 win over Scarsdale last Thursday — and are playing their best hockey at the most opportune time. |
8 | Scarsdale | 12-5-1 | 7 |
Raiders have lost two of their last three, highlighted by a head-scratching 7-2 loss to New Rochelle. They close out the regular season with games against Connecticut's West Haven (Feb. 13) and Fordham Prep (Feb. 15). |
9 | Somers/North Salem | 14-3-2 | 10 |
Sabers defeated Mahopac, 7-1, on Monday night and wrap up the regular season tonight against Brewster. If they defeat the Bears, it would extend their unbeaten streak to an impressive 12 games. |
10 | Ryetown/Harrison | 10-6-1 | NR |
Titans enter the rankings after winning back-to-back games over Greeley and Rye. They will look to pull off a third consecutive upset against RCDS in their regular season finale this evening. |
