WEDNESDAY, FEB. 22

Class A Quarterfinals

Tappan Zee 54, Pearl River 39

No. 1 Tappan Zee remained perfect at 20-0 with yet another balanced offensive effort and dominant defensive gameplan to defeat No. 8 Pearl River for the third time this season. The Dutchmen hit five 3-pointers in the first half and jumped out to a 34-16 lead and never looked back. Joe Letizia led four Dutchmen in double figures with 13 points. Billy O'Shea added 12 points and nine rebounds. Sophomore Kevin Degnan led Pearl River with 13 points and seven rebounds in the loss.

Tappan Zee will face No. 5 Byram Hills at 8:15 on Wednesday at the Westchester County Center. It will be the third trip in a row for the Dutchmen. Check back for a full article and highlights from this game.

Poughkeepsie 61, Eastchester 58

The 11th-seeded Pioneers closed the game by outscoring the third-seeded Eagles 11-3 to advance to the County Center.

Poughkeepsie trailed 55-50 with 2:30 remaining before scoring eight straight points, keyed by a steal and dunk by Devin Lawrence. Leading 58-55, Eastchester's Dave Solano buried a 3-pointer with 10 seconds to play to tie it.

But the Pioneers pushed the ball up the court and Ray Knight got a basket and foul with 2.4 seconds to go. He sank the free throw for Poughkeepsie, which was 10 for 20 at the line in the game. Eastchester was 13 of 16 but missed two in the final two minutes. Eastchester's 3-point attempt at the buzzer missed.

Solano led Eastchester with 20 points and 20 rebounds and Jack Daly scored 25 points with six assists, four rebounds and three steals.

Lawrence had 14 points and five rebounds for Poughkeepsie, and Jemar Dancy added 12 points, three rebounds and three steals. Check back for a full article from this game

Byram Hills 55, Kennedy 50

In a Section 1 Class A quarterfinal at No. 4 Kennedy, Byram Hills overcame a 30-18 halftime deficit behind the hot shooting of Ryan Golden (17 points), Jeff Lynch (11 points) and Matt Debold (eight points). Andrew Groll added 10 points. The No. 5 Bobcats trailed 42-38 late in the fourth quarter, but Golden and Debold hit two straight 3-pointers to give them the lead. Byram went 7 for 9 from the foul line in the final 1:12 to seal the win.

The Bobcats will face No. 1-seeded Tappan Zee in the Section 1 Class A semifinals on Feb. 29 at the Westchester County Center.

Kennedy's Thiago Randazzo scored a game-high 20 points, but fouled out with 1:08 remaining. He picked up his fourth foul late in the third quarter. Jordan Hardy added nine points for Kennedy.

Peekskill 80, Brewster 73

Chandler Pierce scored 30 points to lead the second-seeded Red Devils to the Class A semifinals at the County Center after Peekskill missed out last season. Eddie Reeves added 12 points for Peekskill, which will face No. 11 Poughkeepsie on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m.

Class B Quarterfinals

Blind Brook 43, Pleasantville 42

Sam Adler hit two free throws with 1.5 seconds left to lift the Trojans to a comeback win over the fourth-seeded Panthers. No. 5 Blind Brook led by one before Pleasantville's Jack Eisenberg made a go-ahead lay-up with 8 seconds to play. Charlie Montgomery had a halfcourt shot at the buzzer miss as time expired. Blind Brook will face No. 1 Dobbs Ferry in the semifinals next Wednesday at the County Center. Check back for a full article and video highlights from this game

Croton-Harmon 56, Woodlands 55

Wes Turner scored 21 points as No. 6 Croton-Harmon upset the third-seeded Falcons. Turner had five rebounds and five steals for Croton, which will face defending champion and second-seeded Albertus Magnus in the semifinals. Ian Thom added 13 points and six rebounds in the win. Albertus Magnus 69, Briarcliff 51

The defending Section 1 champion Falcons built an eight-point lead after the first quarter and never looked back as they booked a return trip to the final four at the County Center. Albertus Magnus will face No. 6 Croton-Harmon in the semifinals on Wednesday at 3 p.m.

Tyler Sayre had 29 points in Wednesday's win, and Jack Sullivan added 20. Arnell Dandrdige scored 12 for Albertus.

Tyriek Johnson led Briarcliff with 14 points and Jared Jones scored 13.

Dobbs Ferry 67, Valhalla 32

Eagles sophomore Eric Paschall got his team flying out of the gates, opening up a 20-5 lead after the first quarter, and never looked back. Paschall, Thomas Fleming and Spencer Avalos all had 11 points for top-seeded Dobbs Ferry, which will face No. 5 Blind Brook in the Section 1 semifinals at the County Center on Wednesday at 4:45 p.m.

TUESDAY, FEB. 21

Class AA Quarterfinals

Clarkstown South 63, Carmel 58

Clarkstown South trailed the majority of the game but stormed back to advance to the County Center for the first time in school history. The Vikings held a seven-point lead with 2:20 remaining in the fourth quarter, but the Rams continued to battle and got the lead back down the three with 1:21 left. Clayton Roker then hit a deep 3-pointer with 34.4 seconds left to seal the game.

Roker finished with 17 points, 10 rebounds and five assists, and teammate Mike McCahey scored a game-high 27 points and pulled in 12 rebounds.

Carmel's Keith Murphy scored 21 points in the loss and Bashkim Rugova added 19 points, five rebounds and four steals.

Mount Vernon 74, New Rochelle 59

Top-seed Mt. Vernon overcame a slow start to defeat eighth-seeded New Rochelle at home. Mount Vernon, which beat the Huguenots handily twice in the regular season, briefly trailed midway through the second quarter but the offense caught fire behind Isaiah Cousins (16 points) and captain Qwadere Lovell (13 points).

Kirkland Ottey poured in a game-high 25 points for New Rochelle, all in the second half, but it it wasn’t enough to defeat the defending Federation champs.

Mahopac 76, Arlington 75 2OT

Mahopac trailed by 18 points in the third quarter but stormed back to force overtime in one of the most exciting games of the season. Sixth-seeded Arlington led 62-60 and had the ball with 8.8 seconds remaining in the first overtime. But Zak Ankier stole a pass and dished to Marc Vaccaro for the game-tying lay-up. Mahopac forced another turnover and had a chance to win it, but the final shot just missed and the game went to double overtime.

In the second overtime, Mahopac pushed the lead to eight points with 40 seconds remaining, but Arlington had a little magic of its own and cut the lead to two points with 26.5 seconds left in the game. Brendan Hynes sank the two free-throws to give Mahopac the cushion it needed. Arlington hit a 3-pointer as time expired but it wasn't enough.

Hynes finished with 24 points, 10 rebounds and four assists while Vaccaro added 13 points and seven rebounds. Ankier scored 19 points. Arlington's Brian Brocker scored 20 points and had six rebounds and Gio Rodriquez had 12 points in the loss.
 
Fox Lane 52, North Rockland 39

Second-seeded Fox Lane closed out the game on an 8-0 run over the final 1:20. Will Trawick started the run off with a ferocious slam dunk to beat the shot clock. Prior to Trawick's dunk, Fox Lane had only scored two fourth-quarter points.

Trawick, Dylan Peretz and Ben Korren each scored 13 points for the Foxes (17-3). Fox Lane will play Mahopac in the semifinals on March 2 at the County Center.

No. 7 North Rockland (13-7) was led by Charles Nardone with nine points. Tyrell Price and Alex Ramirez each added eight points.

Class C Quarterfinals

Tuckahoe 100, Lincoln Hall 35
Sky Williams led all scorers with 33 points as the Tuckahoe Tigers began their Section 1 Class C title quest by routing 8^th-seeded Lincoln Hall 100-35. Justin Nolan added 23 points, 8 rebounds and 8 assists for the Tigers in a wholly dominating performance. Lincoln Hall was led by Rasean Davis and his team-high 22 points. Tuckahoe advances to the semi-finals on Monday at the County Center.

Haldane 52, Alexander Hamilton 32

The fourth-seeded Blue Devils got 13 points from Will Hoffman and 12 from Elias Lopez to roll to a convincing victory. Hamilton will meet top-seeded and undefeated Tuckahoe on Monday at the County Center in a rematch of last year's final. Errol Forde and Kevin Bass each had eight points in the loss.
