Class B
Valhalla 2, Rye Neck 1
The Vikings captured their fourth straight Section 1 title in a thrilling matchup as eighth-grader Kaylie Dynek singled in the winning run in the fifth inning. Top-seeded Rye Neck got a complete-game, seven strikeout effort from star senior pitcher Jessica Calvini, who also homered for the Panthers' lone run.
Class A
Beacon 8, Brewster 3
The eighth-seeded Bulldogs capped an incredible run to a Section 1 championship with a comeback victory. Chelsea Dexter went 3 for 4 with a home run and four RBI in the win. Kathleen Boyle earned the victory on the mound and went 2 for 4 with an RBI for Beacon, which advanced to the state tournament. The Bulldogs will face the Section 4 champion on Monday at BAGSAI in Binghamton.
Class AA
John Jay-East Fishkill 9, Ketcham 8
Tateum Valentine delivered an RBI single with the bases loaded and two outs in the bottom of the seventh as the Patriots repeated as Section 1 champs. John Jay advanced to the state regional semifinals against the Section 4 champion at BAGSAI in Binghamton.
