Andrea Bombace hit a three-run home run, Marlene Cuevas had a two-run shot, and Casey Herzog scattered five hits as the No. 2 Roy C. Ketcham High School softball team beat no. 3 Clarkstown South, 8-0, in a Section 1 Class AA semifinal on Thursday.

Class A

Beacon 9, Tappan Zee 6

No. 8-seed Beacon’s dream run to the Section 1 Class A title game continued on Thursday with a 9-6 win over No. 5-seed Tappan Zee. Beacon took advantage of Tappan Zee’s early defensive woes to post an 8-1 lead after just two innings. Kathleen Boyle threw a complete game for Beacon and Jenna Malouf knocked in four runs in the victory. The Bulldogs advance to the championship game against Brewster on Saturday.

Brewster 7, Ursuline 2

Nikole Larm hit a three-run home run in the seventh inning to power Brewster past Ursuline into the Section 1 Class A championship game. Brewster never trailed, jumping out to an early lead with a three run first inning and then breaking the game open with a four run seventh. Sophomore Alycia Feeney threw a four-hit, five-strikeout complete game and didn't allow a hit until the fourth inning while Larm was 2-for-4 with four RBIs and a stolen base. Ursuline's Jaime Carfora drove in the only RBI for the Koalas. Brewster advances to face Beacon in the championship game.

Class B

Valhalla 6, Kennedy 3

Danielle Maffei's inside-the-park three-run home run in the fifth inning was the difference for second-seeded Valhalla against sixth-seeded Kennedy. Kennedy gained a 2-0 lead in the first inning when two runs scored on a passed ball. The Vikings battled back in the bottom of the first with RBI singles from Maffei and Brandi Coon. Valhalla took a 3-2 lead in the second inning on an RBI double by Kaylie Dymek. Kennedy tied the game at 3-3 in the fourth with an RBI single from Jennifer Jamieson. Valhalla pitcher Sydni Holtz tossed a complete game, scattered five hits, struck out three and walked two. Kennedy pitcher Molly Feeney allowed eight hits, fanned three and walked two.

Rye Neck 6, Dobbs Ferry 0

Jessica Calvini pitched a five-hitter with 12 strikeouts to lead the top-seeded Panthers into the title game. Calvini also tripled and drove in three runs and Diana King had three hits and three runs scored. Rye Neck will face No. 2 Valhalla for the title on Saturday.
